AVENUE PRETTY-A-PORTER
An afternoon in Paris. Vogue covers in the park. Summer tans fade into autumnal ocre shades. A new season. A new mood. Let’s take a trip down Avenue Pretty-A-Porter.

GO DIVA GO!
Kaiser Karl is at it again. Asked what his thoughts were on Brigitte magazine’s announcement to use in future only “ordinary, realistic” women in its fashion spreads rather than professional models, Lagerfeld had this to say: “These are fat mummies sitting with their bags of crisps in front of the television, saying that thin models are ugly.” Mr Chanel was also quick to add that fashion had to do “with dreams and illusions, and no one wants to see round women”.
True, I personally prefer the sight of skinny models munching crisp bags in front of the telly (or this). But in Paris, I got so tired of skinny fashion editors in their sky-high Louboutins, I started focusing on fat old ladies who swing.

THE KISS
the scene: Jardin des Tuileries, Paris
Amidst the gruelling schedule of shows, the unforgiving weather, the hordes of paparazzis and style bloggers, the lack of sleep and the pain of wounded feet, there was room for romance too. It’s just a kiss, but it belongs to Anja Rubik.

DEACON’S DINO
I’m so glad I missed the train because there was Giles Deacon in the afternoon. The catwalk show saw the first appearance of the ultimate fashionanimal companion for the micro-trend towards cave woman and dark creatures: the inflatable plastic dino. I LOVE.

SHINING IN THE RAIN
the scene: outside Chanel
Durr. Missed my train. On the plus side, I’ll get 24 extra hours of Paris and Giles Deacon and Grey Magazine reception. Makes up for missed Galliano show last night. But you know what, there was this maaaaasssssive thunderstorm over Paris, I couldn’t possibly leave my apartment. Well, I can’t shine in the rain like this femme Chanel.

JEUNE AND CHANEL
It was all heidiho barn fun at Chanel, Karl and Lily battling it out in the hay etc… Clearly, hay fever pitch was high with Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl too, who just kept on frolicking outside. That’s rock’n'roll. And thanks to Chanel for bringing back the fun factor to an otherwise rather sombre week.

VOGUE ROUGE
Yesterday, I papped Vica at YSL pretty much from the hip. This morning at Chanel, I upgraded to holding Vica’s laptop while Sart was taking her pictures. Paris blues is definitely over. I think the time is now to brush up my Russian.

YES, VICA
Paris really is killing me this time. There was a fine Rodarte reception at Colette. Everyone was there. But I had to leave, because I had a splitting headache (in total I’ve had three headaches so far in my life). Schlepped myself to YSL at Palais de Tokyo. And there I found my pain relief, my fashion aspirin, my all time style icon, the one and only Vica. A strong dose of Chanel tomorrow morning should get me back on track.

RAIN REIGNS
I missed Stella. It rained. No it rained cats and dogs. Though it did please my English side, I got soaked through. A chocolat chaud at Ladurée saved my life and spirits. At the table next to me, a very fat dame of a certain age in Chanel ca. 1981 manoeuvred very slowly through her déjeuner. I thought that species got extinct a long time ago. I thought wrong. Bon appétit.

A PARIS!
A chic apartment, tout le monde fashion, delicious croissants. What’s not to love? Ma valise is packed, and so is my TGV-lunch. See you in Paris.
